In a speech here last night, he said Najib’s departure was necessary in order to save the country from continuously having to shoulder the burden and losses particularly with regards to the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

“There are those asking if my effort will succeed? I say whether it is successful or not is not the issue. But if you (rakyat) don’t do it now and let him (Najib) get away, he will stay in power and remain there forever. If Najib doesn’t stop, our country will continue to face problems,” he further alleged.

The deputy Umno president, who is currently on suspension, said this in a speech at a Save Malaysia gathering here last night.

Commenting further, Muhyiddin, who is Pagoh MP, said what was important for the rakyat to know was the main reason why Najib was being pressured to step down.

“With that I ask all those in the hall here to sign the Citizens Declaration, to ask Najib to quit. We cannot let this (1MDB issue) go on,” Muhyiddin told the 1,000 people present at the gathering.

Among them were representatives of Parti Amanah Negara and the Umno branch chiefs’ movement Gerakan Ketua Cawangan Umno, as well as former Kedah Menteri Besar Mukhriz Mahathir.

Before the program ended, all attendees shouted the ‘Undur Najib’ slogan.
