He wants to change the topic “Women’s Right in Islam” to “Islam, Problems and Solution to Humanity”.
He said the new title was seen to be more suitable in analysing the problems of humanity in the current world and Islam as a solution to all these problems.
“We choose a topic which the public wants to listen to and receive vast knowledge and benefits to enable humanity to improve through Islam.
“I want people to come and hear what Dr Zakir Naik says about this topic,” he said at a press conference after chairing a Meeting of the Malacca State Exco here today.
Yesterday, Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the government had allowed the preacher from India to have the lecture in Malacca but he had to change the topic of his lecture.
Meanwhile, in Kuala Terengganu, the Terengganu Government invited Zakir, who is also Patron of the Islamic Research Foundation (IRF), to open up a branch or research centre for the Southeast Asian region in the state.
Menteri Besar Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman said with the existence of the IRF in the state, Terengganu would be better known as a knowledge and Islamic growth centre in the region.
“Insyaallah (God willing), tomorrow I will meet Zakir Naik and discuss the offer of the state government to set up the IRF branch in the state.
“We may offer one of the islands in the Tasik Kenyir area to be the location for the knowledge centre,” he told reporters after a function in the state capital today.
