ALOR SETAR:
A part-time religious teacher has reportedly been sacked after he hurled a plastic chair at three schoolgirls at a government religious boarding school in Baling.

State education director Azuyah Hassan was quoted as saying that the teacher’s services were terminated after the department held discussions with the principal of Sekolah Model Khas Baling and the parent-teacher association. He had been with the school for 15 years.

“The teacher apologised to the students’ parents and both parties agreed to let the school handle the matter,” she said on Saturday, according to Star Online.

The 48-year-old teacher was said to have become angry at three pupils, Siti Farhana Mohd Ayub, Irdina Safiyya Amran and Farrah Izzati Mohamad Rohaizat, all 13 years old, at 8pm on Wednesday.

Farrah Izzati was reported to have sustained fractures on two fingers, Siti Farhana reported pain near her waist and Irdina Safiyya sustained a cut on her head.

The teacher has been released on police bail after being questioned.
