Stones thrown at Penang football team bus, coach hurt

Glass splinters from front windscreen hit goalkeeping coach in highway incident after 2-2 draw with Kedah.

A coach of the Penang football team was injured when stones were hurled at the team bus on the Darul Aman Highway after Kedah and Penang drew 2-2 in a Super League match last night.

Kota Setar deputy OCPD Supt Rohana Omar said four stones hit the front windscreen of the bus while five stones were hurled at the body of the bus. The incident occurred at about 11.30pm.

“When passing through the Darul Aman Highway, near Taman Tunku Hasbah, stones were hurled at the bus. The left arm of the Penang goalkeeper’s coach, Maquinshop Domingues Prep, was injured by glass splinters,” she said.

Rohana said a police report had been received and police were in the process of identifying the group of individuals responsible for the act.

In the match at Stadium Darul Aman last night, Kedah drew 2-2 with Penang.
