Instead, the committee called on those with information to come forward to inform the MACC about the sale of Penang state land at Taman Manggis, George Town, or Lim’s purchase of a RM2.6 million bungalow.
The chairman of the Special Committee on Corruption, Abu Zahar Ujang, made the request in a statement today.
Lim, who is chief minister of Penang, has been questioned about the bungalow purchase in 2012 from a businesswoman who is a partner of the majority shareholder of the company that bought the Taman Manggis land from the state.
Abdul Rahman, who is housing minister, had revealed documents about the sale of the company, Kuala Lumpur International Dental Centre, for RM70.6 million. Abdul Rahman had said the share of the company was equivalent to selling the land, which had been bought for RM11.6 million, also in 2012.
On Tuesday Abdul Rahman had expressed willingness to face Lim one-to-one in public. Both RTM and TV3 have offered to broadcast the debate live
However, on Friday, Abdul Rahman said he had to leave on an office trial abroad, stating that he would be back on April 15, to which Lim then challenged him to return by Sunday, saying he had cut short a trip to China in order to attend the Dewan Rakyat, when a parliamentary questioned was raised about his bungalow.
Rahman replied by sending a list of questions in advance for Lim to prepare himself.
