A-G confirms 1MDB report classified under OSA

Debate on PAC report on 1MDB will begin when Dewan Rakyat meets on May 16.

PETALING JAYA:
Auditor-General Ambrin Buang has confirmed that the federal audit report on 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) was still classified, Malay Mail Online reported.

It reported that there had been confusion over the matter as the investigation by the Public Accounts Committee on 1MDB was released in Parliament Thursday.

“Yes,” Ambrin told Malay Mail Online when asked whether the Auditor-General’s findings on the firm were still classified under the Official Secrets Act (OSA).

He did not say when or if the report would be declassified, or why it was not released along with the PAC report on 1MDB.

Opposition lawmakers had insisted that the Auditor-General’s findings should be included for debate on PAC’s report.

The PAC report blamed the 1MDB board of directors and management for the fund amassing debts of RM42 billion in just five years.

PAC chairman Hasan Arifin is only expected to take questions on the report in the next parliamentary session.

Speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia said MPs can debate on the PAC’s 1MDB Governance Management Control Report in the coming Dewan Rakyat meeting from May 16.
