KUALA LUMPUR: The police are monitoring thousands of social media and websites to curb the spread of deviant ideologies, Deputy Home Minister Masir Kujat told the Dewan Rakyat today.

“The police are monitoring over 1,000 Facebook accounts, 100 Twitter accounts and 50 websites and blogs until today.

“Foreigners suspected of being linked to deviant ideologies would be deported to their country of origin,” he said.

The Sri Aman MP was responding to a question from Zaim Abu Hasan (BN-Parit) on the number of cyber crimes, linked to the Islamic State and Al-Qaeda, committed in the last five years.

He also urged the public to monitor their family members to help check the spread of deviant Islamic propaganda by both terror groups.
