Priority is to defend slim majority in all parliamentary seats and garner more Malay votes.

JOHOR BAHRU:
Johor Umno is beefing up its election machinery to ensure they retain all eight parliamentary seats in the state at the next general election.

Johor Umno secretary Md Jais Sarday said that the Barisan Nasional won the eight parliamentary seats by a slim majority at the previous elections.

“Our priority is to defend all the parliamentary seats and garner more votes specifically from Malay voters,” he said.

Md Jais, who is also Kluang Umno divisional chief, said this to reporters after a meeting with party Secretary-General Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor here last night.

He said the eight parliamentary seats would be watched over by Umno headquarters together with the Umno divisions concerned to conduct activities and meet the target group.

Each of the parliamentary areas had numerous issues and problems, which must be addressed to ensure victory, he added.

There are a total of 26 parliamentary seats in Johor.
