This is because the movement has no game plan for Prime Minister Najib Razak’s replacement, if the PM decides to step down, said PSM Secretary-General Sivarajan Arumugam.
“We agree that Najib has to go, but the ‘Save Malaysia’ move will only strengthen Umno when they get rid of Najib.
“We feel that this is the best opportunity – when the rot is at its peak – to argue that Najib is the symptom of the corrupt Umno and BN.
“Thus, we should build a strong people’s movement to oust Umno now,” he told FMT.
When asked to comment on former Premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad taking part in the movement, Sivarajan pointed out that the latter had yet to apologise for his actions during his time as PM.
Yesterday, more than 1,000 people, including Mahathir, gathered to reject Najib’s leadership.
Named the “People’s Congress”, its organiser, Zaid Ibrahim, called for a total reform of the country’s political system, beginning with the ousting of Najib.
