Abdullah, acting president of the MTUC labour federation, said the country was facing difficult times.
“Subsidies have been taken away. During Mahathir’s (Mohamad) time, he would think twice before raising fuel prices by two cents. Now they (government) say something else in the morning and something else at night,” said Abdullah, who is PKR MP for Kuala Langat.
The people are suffering, he said, and called upon Najib Razak to resign as prime minister. “GST is the main reason for the higher living costs. A lot of companies have closed operations.” he said.
He said Malaysia was rich in resources but the people were not enjoying the benefits. “People are fed up. In rural areas people are suffering, he said, adding that he hopes the people will fight for their rights and oust Najib.
His speech ended with the crowd chanting Reformasi.
