PETALING JAYA:
Sarawak Chief Minister Adenan Satem will give the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) a chance to win back the Piasau and Pujut seats from DAP.

Adenan announced this when launching the Miri election machinery of Parti Pesaka Bumiputra (PBB) Miri, where he also indicated that SUPP’s Senadin assemblyman Lee Kim Shin would defend his seat.

In the 2011 state elections, SUPP lost the Piasau and Pujut seats to DAP.

Adenan also revealed that Lambir incumbent Ripin Lamat from PBB and Bekenu incumbent Rosey Yunus of Parti Tenaga Rakyat Sarawak (Teras) would also be renominated as Barisan Nasional candidates, the Borneo Post Online reported today.

He added that PBB Deputy Youth leader Gerald Rentap Jabu would stand in Layar, replacing his father, outgoing Deputy Chief Minister Alfred Jabu who is not seeking re-election.

Meanwhile, Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau thanked Jabu for all he had done for the Baram Division.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Telang Usan PBB chief said the people in the area were grateful to Jabu for his contribution.

“Jabu is considered as the architect of Telang Usan for his tremendous work in helping develop Baram, especially the agriculture sector.

“Among the things he has done in Baram are the Long Lama Rural Growth Centre (RGC), opening up high-yielding rubber plantations, developing the Banga-Peluan-Beruang, Ulu Baram highland agriculture centre, and opening seven Penan service centres in Baram,” he said, adding that Jabu was the only state minister to frequently visit Telang Usan.
