PETALING JAYA:
Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man of PAS had cautioned Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng against becoming too arrogant.

In an interview with news portal Malaysiakini, the deputy president of PAS said while still harbouring disappointment over the immediate sacking of his party’s representatives from the state government, the Islamist party did not hold a grudge against Lim.

“Privately, PAS is disappointed with what happened in Penang.

“We are disappointed, especially because we were with them (DAP) to face the general election, together in Pakatan, but after we won, the PAS people were kicked out, let go and fired from their posts,” he said, while also reminding DAP that they only won one state.

Ibrahim said despite this, PAS only wanted to advise Lim against being too arrogant.

He also denied reports quoting Lim as saying some PAS members had resigned of their own accord, insisting instead that they had been sacked by the Penang government.

Ibrahim said Lim should emulate Kelantan Menteri Besar Ahmad Yaakob, who even allowed those who lost in the elections to hold posts, while appointing those from groups without any seats in the state, to be headmen and village chiefs.

Last year, it was reported that the Penang government sacked certain PAS members from political appointments in the state administration after the Islamist party’s members passed a motion to break ties with DAP over the hudud issue.

Lim had also challenged PAS members in Penang to relinquish their posts since the party had broken off ties with DAP.
