PETALING JAYA:
A pro-government NGO has come forward to help raise RM60,000 for A Santamil Selvi, the widow of late private investigator P Balasubramaniam.

Persatuan Minda dan Sosial Prihatin (PMSP) said the donation will be collected from 320,000 individuals who have pledged their support to the NGO to raise the money.

PMSP Vice-President Zakwan Hafiz Ahmad Ansari said the move was in line with their objective to help the Indian community.

“We’re helping PI Bala’s widow because we at PMSP have always helped Indians in need.

“We feel that that we can help. At the moment, we’re collecting funds to help her and we’ll announce how much we’ve collected by next Tuesday or Wednesday,” he said at a press conference today.

However, Zakwan denied receiving the funds from Barisan Nasional (BN).

“We want to stress that BN is not sponsoring us or PI Bala to apologise to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib and his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.

“It is our initiative to seek help from 320,000 individuals. They have signed their support to aid the Indian community.”

Previously, several pro-Opposition portals had accused Selvi of being paid RM50,000 to hold a press conference and apologise to Najib and Rosmah.

Zakwan said that PMSP had found their contents and headlines to be confusing and untrue.

“This sparked negative accusations and seditious comments aimed at creating negative perceptions of our NGO, given that we are a pro-government NGO.

“This includes their aim to discredit the good name of Najib.”

Last Saturday, Selvi had apologised openly to Rosmah Mansor for accusing her of murdering her husband in 2013.

Selvi had made the apology in the office of PMSP adviser Ramesh Rao and had admitted that she made the mistake from the stress she felt.
