PETALING JAYA:
Many Malaysians have stepped up to offer aid to a 31-year-old father caught shoplifting food worth RM27 to feed his three children.

According to a report in The Star, well-wishers have been contacting Tesco Bukit Mertajam to find out how they could reach out to him after the hypermarket offered him a job to help make ends meet.

“Some of them were Datuks, politicians and from non-governmental organisations. Someone even offered to get a house for his family provided he has a job,” said Tesco general manager Radzuan Ma’asan.

The man had quit his job as a contract worker after his wife fell into a coma after suffering from a birth complication last week. He was caught stealing fruits and drinks from Tesco last Wednesday.

Radzuan has decided to hire him, although the nature of his job has not been determined.

According to The Star, Tesco’s staff had visited the man’s wife, who has now come out of the coma. Her baby however did not survive.
