Sepang MP Hanipa Maidin, in saying this, wished the Islamist party luck with its new and “pointless” alliance.
“Good luck to PAS,” said Hanipa, who had jumped ship from PAS to Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah).
He expressed confidence that despite PAS’ alliance with multiracial Parti Ikatan Bangsa Malaysia (Ikatan), the public’s support would remain with PH.
Hanipa also urged PAS to address the issue of hudud that had led to the demise of the once strong Opposition pact, Pakatan Rakyat.
Ikatan president Abdul Kadir Sheikh Fadzir had today said the new third opposition bloc had agreed that hudud would not be suitable in Malaysia.
“If that’s the case, when PAS was in PR, we also agreed to disagree on hudud. That was why PAS pulled out from the pact.
“Now, it doesn’t make sense for PAS to join with Ikatan. Why can they do this (agree not to implement hudud) with Ikatan? They need to make it clear,” Hanipa commented.
PAS today made a surprise announcement that the party would be joining forces with Ikatan to face BN in the next general election.
