KUALA LUMPUR: Controversial blogger Wan Mohd Azri Wan Deris, better known as Papagomo, said he was fighting for his family’s dignity when he assaulted a foreigner.

“From the perspective of a brother, I feel proud because at least my sister knows that I’m defending the family’s honour,” he told reporters at the Magistrate’s Court today.

Papagomo was fined a total of RM4,300 today after pleading guilty to assaulting a foreign labourer at the Magistrate’s Court today.

The blogger had admitted to slapping the cheeks, punching the right cheek and kicking a Pakistani in the groin.

He alleged that the foreigner had harassed his sister and her two friends earlier.

“Personally, I regret that the incident occurred. As a citizen in a country governed by law, I shouldn’t have taken things into my own hands.”

He also demanded that the police investigate the Pakistani national as his sister had already lodged a police report on sexual harassment.

“I want the police to also track down the employer of the Pakistani for protecting an illegal foreign worker.”

Mohd Azri’s actions came to light after a four-minute video of him assaulting the Pakistani labourer became viral.

The video begins with Papagomo lining up four foreign workers for an “identification parade”, before asking the harassed woman to identify the culprit.
