KUALA LUMPUR:
Controversial blogger Wan Mohd Azri Wan Deris, better known as Papagomo, was fined a total of RM4,300 in the Magistrate’s Court today after pleading guilty to assaulting a foreign labourer.

Mohd Azri pleaded guilty to slapping the cheeks, punching the right cheek and kicking the Pakistani in the groin.
He was charged with committing the offence at a mall in Wangsa Maju at 1.30pm on Jan 29.

Papagomo, via his counsel, Azizul Shariman Mat Yusoff, pleaded for a fine instead of a jail sentence as he was the sole breadwinner of his family.

Azizul also pleaded with Magistrate Husna Dzulkifly to take into account the labourer’s action in allegedly sexually harassing Papagomo’s sister and her two friends.

Mohd Azri’s actions first came to light after a four-minute video of him assaulting the Pakistani labourer went viral.

The video begins with Papagomo lining up four foreign workers for an “identification parade”, before asking the harassed woman to identify the culprit.

The burly blogger is then seen repeatedly slapping, kicking and punching the much smaller victim, who does not put up a fight. The foreigner is then seen apologising to Papagomo.
