PETALING JAYA:
It is ‘very likely’ that Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 will be found by July, says Martin Dolan, the man in charge of the search team for the missing airplane.

According to an article in The Guardian, Dolan, the head of the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) believes the plane is within the 30,000 or so sq km area that has yet to be searched.

“It’s as likely on the last day of the search as on the first that the aircraft would be there.

“We’ve covered nearly three-quarters of the search area and since we haven’t found the aircraft in those areas, that increases the likelihood that it’s in the areas we haven’t looked at yet,” he said, adding this would be within the next four months, if not sooner.

Four ships have scoured more than 85,000 sq km of a long but narrow “seventh arc”, totalling 120,000 sq km of sea floor.

The search area is based on ATSB’s modelling which indicated that the plane would have most likely crashed in the southern Indian ocean, off the coast of western Australia.

Today marks the second year since MH370 disappeared with 239 passengers and crew on board while on a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.

Question marks still remain over the mysterious disappearance of the plane.

Last July, a wing fragment called a flaperon, was found washed ashore on Reunion Island and was later confirmed to be from the missing plane.

Last Sunday, a second possible piece from the missing plane was found on the Mozambique coastline and handed over to the police.

Today, an interim report on the investigation into the incident will be released by the Malaysian International Civil Aviation Organisation Annex 13 Safety Investigation Team for MH370.
