Separate reports were lodged against the three today at police stations in Sentul, Wangsa Maju and Rawang.
The report against Lim was made by activist lawyer Mohd Khairul Azam Abdul Aziz, who emerged in the news last year as the leader of the Citizens’ Movement to Defend the Sedition Act of 1948. The other two reports were lodged by his associates.
Speaking to reporters outside the Sentul police headquarters, Khairul alleged that comments made by Lim and Mohamad, as quoted in the Malaysiakini article, insulted the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, making him out to be a “government puppet.”
“The article suggests that the Agong speaks without understanding, that he is weak and only says what the government tells him to say and does not have an opinion of his own, and that people should not care about his speeches,” he said.
He remarked that politicians should not cross the line by involving the King in their “political play.”
“Insulting the Prime Minister and his wife can be expected in politics, but do not go overboard in the heat of your politicking by insulting the King,” he said.
