In his weekly column in Sinar Harian, Tee congratulated PAS for rejecting the move to oust Najib via undemocratic means and condemned the campaign as one being executed by “the enemies of Islam.”
He also lauded PAS’s stand of opposing Umno and not its members, as mature politics.
“Umno members are still Muslim, do not treat them like “kafir” (non-believers). If one can hug and kiss a kafir, why fight a fellow Muslim and destroy the country?”
Tee noted that Najib’s position would have been shaky had PAS supported the stand of this latest “ultra kiasu” group, led by former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, and praised the party for staying away, despite it being a golden opportunity for them to remove the prime minister.
He also cautioned the people against being fooled by the sly “ultra kiasu”, regardless of whether they were Muslim or otherwise, as there was no guarantee that Najib’s replacement would make Malaysia fare any better.
“They (ultra kiasu) realise that the King and people of Malaysia will not accept a Chinese “ultra kiasu” as Prime Minister, but they are ready with their Malay “ultra kiasu” candidate.
“Sadly, all the Malay ‘ultra kiasu’ still do not realise they are being used and for those who do realise this, power is more important to them than being used as puppets.”
Tee also advised both Umno and PAS not to contest in each other’s constituencies during the next general election and explained that if both parties could not cooperate, they should at the very least form electoral pacts just as how the “ultra kiasu” had done in their coalition.
He also said that Najib should be allowed to lead the country as prime minister until the end of his term and called on those who have left Umno to stop their attacks against their former leader and party president.
