According to the report, the Facebook campaign that calls on supporters to stand in solidarity with Najib, began several weeks ago but intensified after the signing of the declaration.
The campaign poster features a Malaysian flag and the words “I am Malaysian and I…#RespectMyPM.”
There are also posters with the flags of each state so supporters from different states can share the posters.
According to the Facebook page “Pertahan Negara Kita” (Defend Our Country) on which the posters were uploaded, campaign organisers said it was time for the people to rally behind Najib.
Last Friday, 58 politicians from both sides of the political divide, as well as civil society leaders, signed the Citizens’ Declaration calling for Najib’s removal as Prime Minister.
The declaration also called for the removal of those who have acted in concert with him and for the repeal of all recent laws that violate fundamental human rights. The group have also demanded for the restoration of integrity of the institutions that have been undermined under Najib’s leadership.
