Badrul Hisham Shahrin, better known as Chegubard, alleged Azmin had ignored the standard practice of choosing local councilors, as stated in a Selangor state circular published in 2013.
Kelana Jaya PKR secretary Murali Subramaniam said clause 4 of the circular stated that local councillors should live in their area of jurisdiction for at least five years.
Another party guideline also stated that the divisions would nominate the names of the councillors, which would then be brought to the state, before being confirmed by the central party leadership.
“What happened in Selangor is that it (councillor appointments) did not happen according to the rules. We submitted the names but the Menteri Besar did not take anyone suggested by the division.
“They put in their own names for us to agree but our division chief declined. Yet, they appointed someone else (for the councillor position).
“We are not satisfied with what the MB has done. I don’t know why he (Azmin) does not do what he preaches,” he told a press conference today.
He said Azmin even nominated a councillor who lived in SS2, Petaling Jaya, to the Majlis Perbandaran Subang Jaya (MPSJ).
Meanwhile, Badrul said Azmin did not respect the division, even though in the PKR constitution, the division had a big say and could even determine election candidates.
He called on the party’s top leadership to start paying attention to what was happening in Selangor under Azmin’s administration.
“One of the complaints about the administration of (former MB) Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim was that he did not help the party.
“Now, how can we serve (the people) when the appointed councillors do not even live in the place they are serving and have no contacts with the divisions?”
