In a statement, Mohd Bakke Salleh, denied he had ever informed the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), currently probing 1MDB, of such a thing.
“I had never mentioned anything of that sort when I gave my statement to the PAC.
“Neither have I related such a thing to the media or appointed anyone to make a statement on my behalf.”
Bakke then advised netizens to be more careful when it came to rumours or speculation without verifying such information.
He also said he would be lodging a police report and threatened to take legal action against individuals who had spread such lies.
“The Wall Street Journal” had previously reported that the sum was from 1MDB.
However, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission later clarified that the money came from a Middle-Eastern donor.
The sum, which was banked into Najib Razak’s personal accounts, was supposedly to help the Barisan Nasional win the 13th General Election.
