Johor Sultan turns train driver again for Segamat trip

Trip number nine for royal locomotive driver from JB to Segamat.

JOHOR BARU:
The Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar turned train driver today, taking to the controls in the locomotive of a specially rented six-coach train from JB Sentral to Segamat.

It was his ninth time he has driven a train after obtaining a Class 26 locomotive driving licence on June 28, 2010.

The Sultan was accompanied by Malayan Railway locomotive drivers Mohd Kamal Asmawi and Supawi Ismail who have 10 to 20 years experience driving KTM trains.

The mufti of Johor, Mohd Tahrir Samsudin, recited the doa (prayer) before the Sultan began his journey at 9.45am for Segamat, a distance of 180 kilometres and passing through eight stations.
