
This was evident in the “silent protest” launched by Kedahans, who had taken to flying the Barisan Nasional (BN) flag upside down throughout the state to protest the removal of Mukhriz Mahathir as their menteri besar recently, she claimed in a Facebook posting.
“Why are the people of Kedah suddenly rising up to topple Najib?
“Today, Najib has seen that in Kedah, the concept of cash is king is not working,” wrote Anina.
She added that Najib’s diminishing support was no one else’s fault but his own.
Her recent posting was made shortly after images of BN flags hanging upside down were posted by on Facebook.
The shots were taken in several spots in Kedah, including Jerlun, Jerai, Kuala Kedah, Kubang Pasu and Bandar Baharu.
Meanwhile, a report in Sinar Harian quoted the Kubang Pasu district council’s public relations officer Zainal Abidin Muhamad as confirming the incident and saying that the said flags had since been taken down.
The two-week-long Kedah menteri besar crisis culminated in Mukhriz announcing his resignation last week, saying he no longer commanded the support of the majority of the state’s assemblymen.
Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah was then sworn-in as the new menteri besar.
