The meeting comes 10 days after Kedah Umno leaders began moves to oust their chairman, Mukhriz Mahathir, who is menteri besar.
“Yes, I have received an invitation and will be at Wisma Darul Aman tomorrow,” Lebai said, according to Malaysian Insider.
A press conference is scheduled to be held after the council meeting.
Ahmad, who is the assemblyman for Bukit Lada, said all assemblymen of Kedah BN received invitations. Each assemblyman would meet the council individually and in private.
The council comprises the two brothers and the daughter of the Sultan, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah.
They are the Tunku Temenggong, Tunku Sallehuddin Ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah; the Tunku Laksamana, Tunku Abdul Hamid Thani; and the Sultan’s eldest daughter, the Tengku Panglima Besar, Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz.
Earlier today, a press report said that the council would seek to find out the views of the assemblymen about the state leadership.
Fourteen members of the Kedah Umno leadership announced on January 20 that they had lost confidence in Mukhriz as menteri besar and media reports later said 19 Umno members of the state assembly had signed sworn statements for Mukhriz’s removal.
Mukhriz is believed to have been summoned for an audience on Friday, two days after Umno president and Prime Minister Najib Razak had his weekly audience with Tuanku Abdul Halim at Istana Negara.
