PasMa President, Pahrolrazi Zawawi said the selection would be based solely on the fact that Ahmad Bashah was the longest-serving individual in Kedah Umno.
“To add, he is also deputy liaison chief for the Umno state machinery, and has served multiple terms as Exco and division leader,” he said in an interview with FMT.
Pahrolrazi was of the opinion however that should Bashah be appointed as menteri besar, Umno will see a decline in its support base, presenting opportunities for the Opposition to win back the state.
“If you analyse the research conducted in 2013, Bashah does not have much support from the people.
“I think that people’s support for BN (Barisan Nasional) will only decline by five or 10 per cent in the next general election, but that is sufficient for a change in state government.”
