Along with the words “Tangkap Najib” (Arrest Najib), was another piece of graffiti that read: “Tiada Keadilan” (No Justice) including the universal symbol for anarchy – a capital A within a circle.
In a report by Sin Chew Daily who first reported the incident, the graffiti was in the midst of being cleaned-up when their reporters were on the scene. Police on duty at the location also tried their best to stop photo-journalists from taking photographs.
MalaysiaKini meanwhile reported that as a temporary measure, the authorities had draped two national flags over the wall to block the offending words.
Putrajaya police chief Rosli Hassan confirmed that an auxiliary police officer doing his security rounds found the graffiti sprayed on the entrance wall of the Palace of Justice at 3am.
He said the incident was being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code, for “committing mischief and thereby causing damage to the amount of twenty-five ringgit.”
Those found guilty face jail terms of up to five years.
Rosli also said that no suspects had been identified yet and ruled out the possibility that the act was carried out by members or sympathisers of militant group, Islamic State (IS).
