KUALA LUMPUR:
The chairman of 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) Lodin Wok Kamaruddin is confident that the probe on the state investment arm will see closure sometime soon.

Speaking to reporters after giving his statement to the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) today, Lodin said, “This is my last session [with the PAC] and there will be no more after this. I think the investigation will come to a close.”

When asked to comment about how the session went, he said, “It was okay. They (PAC members) asked tough questions but I managed to answer all of their questions.”

Asked whether PAC members were satisfied with his answers, Lodin said, “I think so.”

Lodin had first given his statement to the PAC yesterday, but was summoned again today by the committee as “there were several details that needed to be looked into”.

PAC chairman Hasan Arifin had also said yesterday that the committee’s decision to call the former chairman of 1MDB, Mohd Bakke Salleh, would depend on Lodin’s statements.

The current president of the debt-ridden fund, Arul Kanda Kandasamy, was also summoned for questioning a second time on December 18 last year as his earlier session was deemed “incomplete”.
