SHAH ALAM: Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali urged the state’s civil servants to remain loyal only to the Sultan, and not political leaders or parties.
The PKR deputy president said their required loyalty to the government of the day had been wrongly interpreted as being loyal to the ruling party.
“If this goes on, there is no guarantee that the civil service will be professional and principled,” he said at the state government’s monthly assembly here today.
Azmin said while political leaders could change, the civil service was permanent.
“This is the most important challenge in ensuring the continuation of the government’s administration, both at the state and national level, and that it becomes cleaner and more effective.”
