PETALING JAYA: Former Bank Rakyat Chairman Sabbaruddin Chik is now the head of AmanahRaya, replacing incumbent Reezal Merican Naina Merican.

Expressing his gratitude to Prime Minister Najib Razak, Sabbaruddin pledged his commitment to fulfil his responsibilities and meet the expectations that come with his newly-appointed post.

The former Umno Secretary-General also pledged full loyalty and support for Najib’s leadership as both the nation’s number one and the head of the country’s Finance Ministry.

“I will carry out my duty to the best of my abilities. Who Najib wanted to give the post to, is not an issue. There is no reason for me to reject this post,” he said, adding that as the country’s prime minister, Najib reserved the right to appoint whosoever he trusted to head Malaysia’s premier trustee company, that provides trust, legacy management and will-services.

Sabbaruddin was once sued for over RM1.1 billion by carpet entrepreneur Deepak Jaikishan for a book he published titled, ‘Exposing Deepak and the Bank Rakyat scandal’ which revolved around a bank loan Deepak took, allegedly on behalf of Najib’s wife, Rosmah Mansor.
