PETALING JAYA: The Election Commission (EC) has denied arresting a Chinese tourist who purportedly attempted to register as a voter for the Aug 12 state polls.
This follows a viral WhatsApp message claiming the tourist was among 1.2 million Chinese tourists who allegedly entered the country between 2018 to 2021 but did not leave Malaysia.
“The allegation is false and members of the public are urged against being easily misled (by viral social media postings or messages) or spreading such false information without verifying its authenticity,” it said in a statement.
