PETALING JAYA: Penang Amanah vice-chairman Azrul Mahathir Aziz claims the video of Dominic Lau being told to leave a PAS ceramah was “an act” to gain sympathy votes from non-Malay voters.
Azrul, who will be defending the Bayan Lepas seat against Lau in a straight fight, also claimed it was a ploy to appease PAS grassroots members who were unhappy that Lau was contesting in a seat that traditionally belonged to the Islamic party, Malay Mail reported.
“It was only a ploy to win back support, they want to show that PAS does not agree with Dominic contesting here and they want to distance themselves from the decision,” he was quoted as saying.
