PERAI: The Penang government has not paid much attention to public transportation planning in mainland Penang for a long time, says Muda’s Perai candidate H Vikneswary.
“Despite the fact that there is a plan to build an LRT (in Penang), this project is focused on Penang island,” she told FMT, referring to the proposed Bayan Lepas-Komtar LRT line.
Vikneswary also said the Perai community, particularly the middle-aged and elderly, struggle with last-mile connectivity problems, with buses not going deeper into neighbourhoods.
This forces residents to walk quite a distance in order to access their nearest bus stop, she added.
