The idea is to have a beautiful modern house in Tongeren, in the Flemish region of Belgium, and its exact copy on the Decentraland platform. This is said to be the first sale of this kind.
The principle is simple: whoever buys this charming villa with a living area of 474 square meters, on a plot of over 7600 square meters in Tongeren will receive its exact digital copy in Decentraland, in the form of a non-fungible token (NFT). The whole is offered for the modest sum of 1.475 million euros.
This unique, completely renovated villa is located in a quiet area, surrounded by greenery.
It’s equipped with all the modern amenities and features three bedrooms, each with its own en-suite bathroom. The icing on the cake is that the spacious grounds even have a petanque court.
And all these features have been digitised in the metaverse.
For the buyer, it will be important to maintain the house in good condition and perhaps resell it – or at least its NFT – later and perhaps make some money on the investment.
In the meantime, the owner can invite friends, organize virtual events or even open an art gallery in the virtual space.
Decentraland is a decentralised 3D virtual reality platform that consists of thousands of parcels of land, all corresponding to unique non-fungible tokens.
According to Zimmo, this virtual property is already valued at 30,000 euros. Will the virtual property turn out to be a better investment than the real thing? Time will tell.
