3 possible reasons for puddles inside your home

Leaking pipes, roof damage or a faulty washing machine might be to blame.

Even if it rains more than usual, you should be nice and dry at home. If, however, you find yourself encountering an indoor flood, here are three potential causes.

1. Leaky water pipes

If you come across a random pool of water, check whether there are water pipes in the vicinity as you might have a leaking or damaged pipe.

Alternatively, your plumbing system might be clogged. Standing water in a pipe can cause it to leak through the caulking and seals. Call a plumber as soon as you can.

2. Roof damage

A leaky roof is easy to spot, especially during the rainy season. Look for a damp patch or water spots on the ceiling.

Locating the precise source of the leak, however, can be hard because water does not necessarily drip straight down. It can travel along the roof panels before eventually dripping onto the ceiling and leaving a stain.

3. Washing machine problems

Water around your washing machine is a sign that it is leaking, probably due to a clogged or tilted overflow tube. This is usually caused by using excessive amounts of detergent or combining laundry products inappropriately.

It is best to get a professional to fix the problem right away.
