Oh no! Spilt liquid onto your sofa? Don’t worry, it happens to everyone.

The best way to remove and minimise any damage to your upholstery is to do it immediately. Here is a simple guide to get rid of stains on your sofa.

1. Blot the liquid

Use a dry cloth or kitchen towel to blot the liquid as much as possible. A microfibre cloth is the most absorbent.

2. Mix vinegar and baking soda

Create a concentrated solution of vinegar and baking soda and spread it onto the stain evenly. The combination will “pull” deposits out from the fabric.

3. Spray and wipe

Spray water onto the solution and wipe it away with a clean cloth. Distilled water is better as tap water might contain impurities that could further stain the spot.

4. Repeat and let dry

Repeat the steps above until the stain is removed and let dry using a fan or hairdryer.

If you have huge and stubborn stains, get them cleaned by professionals who will use the correct tools and solutions for clean and fresh upholstery.
