With Malaysia’s unpredictable weather, you never know when you will be needing a soothing hot shower after a rainy day or a nice cold shower after a blazing hot day. To avoid frustration, it is good to make sure your water tank or heater is functioning properly.

Here are some signs that they need to be repaired or replaced.

1. Irregular water temperature

Fluctuating water temperature could indicate that your water heater is not functioning properly. The sudden switching between hot and cold water can lead to an unpleasant shower and can also be dangerous.

2. Discoloured water

Water that comes out of taps should be clear. Hazy or brownish water from taps could be caused by your water tank. It might be rusty and sediment could have accumulated over time, which can pose a serious health hazard.

3. No hot water

If your hot water runs out midway through your shower, there could be a problem with the heating element in your water tank or heater.

4. Leaking water

A leaking tank can lead to pools of collected water, which can be dangerous. It is best to fix any leaks as soon as you notice them.

5. Unusual noises

Water heaters last between eight and 10 years on average. A little noise from your heater or tank is normal, but if the noise becomes unusually loud, it is best to have it looked at.
