5 more kid-friendly nature destinations for all the family

In addition to yesterday's selections, here are more peaceful locations to retreat to for the perfect weekend getaway.

What a glam goat! (Glamgoat Aman Dusun Farm Retreat pic)

Looking for your next green getaway? To complement yesterday’s recommendations, here’s another handful of lovely locations in the Klang Valley – a short commute away from the hustle and bustle of Kuala Lumpur city – that are perfect for families with children.

Remember, though, that while the retreats below are categorised as kid-friendly, they’re nevertheless set in nature and are bound to have some elements of unpredictability. If you’re planning on a stay, remember to remain vigilant and supervise your children at all times.

1. Glamgoat Aman Dusun Farm Retreat

This retreat in Hulu Langat is perfect for little ones who adore farm animals. Choose between the Riverview house and the Blue House, the latter an open concept accommodation with no bedrooms. Experience farm life and enjoy fresh goat’s milk and yoghurt daily for breakfast.

If you happen to visit during the fruit season from June to August, have fun handpicking an array of local fruits from around the compound. Other family-friendly offerings include bicycles for rent, and fishing, though visitors are required to bring their own rods.

Do note that swimming in the nearby river is not recommended due to the unpredictable current.

Get more information here, as well as via Facebook and Instagram.

2. Dolomite Templer

This luxurious homestay is located just a minute away from the seven-tier waterfall known as Kanching Falls. (Dolomite Templer pic)

A perfect blend of nature and modern entertainment under one roof, this homestay is designed with a stunning view of Bukit Anak Takun in Rawang, and boasts an outdoor swing perched over a private plunge pool.

Enjoy a BBQ dinner under the stars, then spend the evening competing in the game box, or singing your hearts out in the karaoke room. Kids, especially, will enjoy Dolomite Templer’s “e-gaming capsule” – an arcade – the first such amenity offered at a staycation destination.

Visit Dolomite Templer’s website for further information.

3. Rumah Kebun

Rumah Kebun sits on 1ha of land in the valley of Kampung Sungai Semungkis, Hulu Langat. (Rumah Kebun pic)

This private villa has a rustic and minimalist design, and is surrounded by lush hills and greenery. Enjoy a refreshing plunge in the natural springwater pool, or take a splash in the pristine waters of the Semungkis River, which runs across the property.

Your children will love feeding the goats and free-range kampung chickens. In the meantime, if the older ones and grown-ups are up for something more intense, head on a 3-4km hike to the nearby waterfall.

Visit Rumah Kebun’s website and Facebook page to book your stay.

4. Nouri Villa

Yet another retreat in Hulu Langat, Nouri Villa’s unique glass-wall design allows visitors to be fully immersed in nature. (Nouri Villa pic)

Enjoy your stay in this lovely villa with its unique glass walls that can be opened to fully immerse guests in natural surroundings, providing them with a stunning view of the garden, swimming pool, rivers, and tropical plants that surround the property.

With seven rooms and maximum capacity of 16 pax, visitors can opt to cook, enjoy a BBQ feast, or order in from the local restaurant nearby.

5. Kuang Kampung Retreat

Fun fact: the Chocolate Museum Kuala Lumpur is located just a 10-minute drive away from this lovely venue. (Kuang Kampung Retreat pic)

Have a simple and cosy getaway at this traditional Malay-style house in Sungai Buloh. Spend hot afternoons relaxing in your very own private indoor plunge pool (with tall glass sliding doors to prevent the little ones from falling in).

The Rahman Putra Golf Club is located just under 10 minutes away, as is the Chocolate Museum Kuala Lumpur in Kota Damansara.

Parents, do note that the outdoor timber deck has bushes instead of handrails, and there are no barriers to the jacuzzi. Safety first!
