With working from home increasingly becoming the norm for many people due to the covid-19 pandemic, it’s time to ensure you can be just as productive at home as in the office.
And for that, there’s nothing like a comfortable chair.
For working cross-legged
Are you someone who has to fight the desire to sit cross-legged on your office chair?
Now, with teleworking, you can hold meetings in your favourite position – and without getting a backache – thanks to the Soul Seat, a new kind of chair designed by Ikaria Design Company in the US.
The chair is available in a variety of colours and materials. A smaller “perch” seat in the middle of the chair helps open your hips and tilt the pelvis forward, allowing the spine to align naturally. That means you shouldn’t have backache at the end of the day!
According to the chair’s makers, sitting in a cross-legged position can help aid digestion and maintain better posture. And that’s just as well, since there’s no backrest. Don’t say you haven’t been warned!

The ergonomic option
Whether working at your computer in an almost kneeling position or stretching out relaxing with your legs elevated and neck resting comfortably, almost as if floating, the Gravity Balans is an ergonomic and adaptable chair.
The Norwegian designer, Peter Opsvik, must be quite surprised to see his invention make such an incredible comeback in the pandemic.
His ergonomic chair, created in 1983 for Varier Furniture, offers everything most homeworkers could want, from relaxation to productivity.
Its four angles allow users to find all kinds of comfortable positions by shifting their weight to find different balancing points.

An intelligent backrest

Do you fidget while you work: grabbing the backrest behind you, leaning forward to pick up your cell phone, stretching out for a moment to find inspiration?
Then you need an office chair that follows your every move. That would be the TNK Flex, designed by Marcelo Alegre for the Spanish brand Actiu.
Winner of the 2018 German Design Award, the chair is entirely customizable, from the position of the headrest to the backrest tilt.
And, above all, the backrest closely fits the shape of your back, accompanying the slightest movement, supporting and interacting with the user.
The seat section is also ergonomic, adapting to movement of the pelvis when you lean forward or move left to right, all thanks to air chambers in the cushion.
