PETALING JAYA:
There’s something about water parks that can bring out the inner child in a person. Perhaps it’s the adrenaline rush of going down massive slides, or the simple pleasures of splashing around in the water… whatever the reason, it’s typically a place of much joy and laughter.

And if you’re a fan of water parks, you’ll be thrilled to know that SplashMania Waterpark at Gamuda Cove, Selangor is now open and ready to offer you a wet and wild time!

Located in Banting and spanning over 7 hectares, the water park is filled with a fair amount of greenery, making it easy to feel like one has stepped into an oasis – certainly befitting its tagline of “where nature meets fun”.

FMT was recently treated to a day out at SplashMania Waterpark. Here are some of the highlights.

As you enter, it’s hard not to notice the Amazonia – a rustic, multilevel ship that is home to the Plunge.

This steep slide is definitely not for the fainthearted, but if you’ve always envisioned yourself as Captain Jack Sparrow trying to escape from a group of villains hot on your heels, then this is the right adventure for you.

For a further adrenaline rush, there are two other slides to try out: the Shaka Waka and Rush Havoc. Rings of brightly coloured enclosed tubes make your descent a unique experience!

For more adventure, give the Curl & Swirl a go. There are plenty of curves to keep your heart thumping as you slide at a rapid pace, so go ahead and scream at the top of your lungs – that what makes the experience so satisfying!

Meanwhile, the Maniac Racers is the place to cultivate some healthy competition among friends. Featuring four slides side by side with a timer at the ends, the fun is in finding out which of you will make it first.

Unsurprisingly, a lot of laughter can be heard here.

If you’re looking for break from the slides, how about something with a slower pace? Go for a float down the Ravage River or satisfy your desire for a beach vacation at the Omba’King Cove, where you can walk on soft sand or splash around in a wave pool.

Those with children should head over to the Treasure Tower, a fun feature with colourful slides and splash buckets to keep the young and the young at heart entertained. A word of caution, however: the steps leading to the slides can get slippery, so always remind your kids to be careful.

At each of these spots, signboards display the requirements for visitors such as minimum height.

Feeling famished after all the adventure? There are several eateries in the water park: among others, Cubes Café serves hot dogs and a selection of pizzas, while Max’s Corner has Asian fare such as fried rice and a variety of noodles.

SplashMania is also equipped with amenities such as toilets and showers; and, to store your belongings, lockers are available for rent.
