Chromebooks, usually intended for study or remote work, are extending their scope to video gaming. Three new models from Acer, Asus and Lenovo, expected this quarter, have been designed specifically for gamers.

These three Chromebooks will be equipped with high-resolution screens with a refresh rate of 120 frames per second, immersive sound, and all are Wi-Fi 6 compatible. The idea is to be able to play games like “Fortnite”, “Cyberpunk 2077”, “League of Legends”, and “Crysis 3 Remastered” online and hassle-free on all of these computers.

In total, Google promises access to more than 1,500 games via various online platforms, such as Xbox Cloud Gaming, NVIDIA GeForce NOW, and Amazon Luna.

However, this news comes shortly after the announcement of the shutdown of Stadia, Google’s own on-demand video game platform.

These computers should be available for order by the end of this month.

It should be noted that various accessories, such as headsets and wireless mice, will soon complete this offer, thanks to partnerships with peripherals manufacturers including Corsair, HyperX, and SteelSeries.

A Chromebook is a laptop that runs on the Chrome OS operating system, which gives users optimal access to the entire Google ecosystem starting with the Chrome browser, from which it is easy to access services such Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Meet.

The very first models of this kind were released in 2011.
