The nine-episode South Korean series premiered last month to become Netflix’s most popular show ever, topping the charts in over 80 countries.
The series revolves around a competition in which 456 players from all walks of life play a series of children’s games with deadly consequences. All of them have one thing in common – they are heavily in debt, while the game promises 45.6 billion won to whoever wins six games over six days.

Not wanting to miss out on the excitement, Sunway Pyramid in Petaling Jaya, Selangor has introduced elements from the show to the mall, much to the delight of patrons.
Fans can catch the giant robot doll from episode 1 at the LG1 Atrium just opposite Costa Coffee. Also look out for robot dolls at selected entrances that will be taking your temperature.
Who knows what the consequences will be should you fail to comply!

Masked guards in pink jumpsuits at the LG1 Atrium will be monitoring SOPs and handing out “Squid Game” invitation cards, which can be used to redeem a complimentary corndog at Myung Rang while stocks last.
The card also offers various exclusive deals from participating Korean stores such as Innisfree, Sulwhasoo and Mr Dakgalbi.
To pay homage to episode 3, there will be a Dalgona Candy Challenge where patrons are invited to separate the shapes from the MDT Dalgona Candies, which can be purchased at MyeongDong Topokki.
Thankfully, in this version of the game, failure to do so simply means you get to eat more candy!

On Thursday, during a visit by FMT and other media to Sunway Pyramid, the character Jang Deok-Su made a “surprise appearance”.
Apparently, Malaysian shopper Cho Lin Xiang was having coffee with his girlfriend when organisers spotted him and asked if he would like to be a part of the “Squid Game” squad, as he bore an uncanny resemblance to actor Heo Sung-tae.
“I’m a huge fan of the series; I’ve even bought the jumpsuit!” the 41-year-old exclaimed.
Cho fit into his role seamlessly as he posed and played rounds of “ddakji”, the South Korean game using folded paper tiles as shown in the first episode of the series.
The response, of course, was great, with many patrons stopping to take pictures with the “Squid Game crew”. Not wanting to miss out, many children joined in the fun – although one hopes they have never watched the show, given its less-than-child-friendly content.

So what are you waiting for? Head on over to Sunway Pyramid and relive your favourite horrifying “Squid Game” moments!
The ‘Squid Game’ excitement runs at Sunway Pyramid until Oct 31. For more information, visit the mall’s website.
