NEW YORK:
Kim Kardashian, kitted out in a full bodysuit by Balenciaga that included hood and shoes and featured a long train, wasn’t the only celebrity to walk the MET Gala red carpet in a totally outrageous get-up.

The event was the stage of extravagance and experimentation, so much so that at some points the scenes from the most anticipated fashion event of the year resembled a carnival setting.

A look at the evening’s worst looks.

While spectacular, Iman’s outfit bordered on outlandish (even for the MET Gala), and lacked any modicum of practicality. (AFP pic)
The award for worst outfit of the evening goes to Kim Petras, who apparently confused the Metropolitan Museum of Art with an equestrian centre. (AFP pic)
Bermuda shorts, mismatched socks and full-face mask … Evan Mock pulled out all the stops for this most recent edition of the MET Gala. (AFP pic)
Fan of geography, Dan Levy chose to metamorphose into a planisphere for the MET Gala. His outfit conveyed a symbolic message full of hope, but was a fashion faux pas nonetheless. (AFP pic)
An evening of glamour? Not so much for Hunter Schafer who seemed to be looking ahead to Halloween. (AFP pic)
Rihanna opted for a wrap dress that was protective and cocooning, convenient for going straight from the party to bed. Some might laugh but the MET Gala queen has struck gold again. (AFP pic)
Matching with his sweetheart, A$AP Rocky also went for a quilt for this ‘pyjama party,’ though his was in colourful patchwork. (AFP pic)
