PETALING JAYA:
REV Media Group has completed the full acquisition of The Vocket, one of Malaysia’s leading lifestyle and culture platforms.

The digital publisher previously held a 52% majority stake in The Vocket and has now acquired the remaining 48%, making it a wholly owned subsidiary under the REV Media Group portfolio.

The company said the acquisition strengthens its position in the Malay digital media market and expands its reach among key audience segments.

Over the past year, The Vocket has recorded strong growth with about 1.4 million unique readers, 68.5 million monthly pageviews, and more than 758,000 followers across social media platforms.

Its readers are mainly young Malaysians aged 25 to 44, particularly men who follow its content on football, travel, finance, technology and lifestyle.

REV Media Group CEO Samuel Wee said the move highlights the company’s commitment to scale and innovation in Malaysia’s digital media space.

“This full acquisition of The Vocket is a testament to REV Media Group’s commitment to pioneering scale, fostering innovation and cementing our leadership in Malaysia’s dynamic digital media market.

“The Vocket has proven its immense potential and strong influence among millennials and the growing Gen Z market. With full ownership, we are now poised to accelerate its growth exponentially,” he said.

The Vocket founder Mohd Fazreen Jasni said the acquisition marks the start of a new chapter for the platform.

“The Vocket was founded 11 years ago out of a genuine passion for content sharing, and this recent acquisition marks the beginning of a new chapter.

“As ‘Viral in Your Pocket,’ our mission is to deliver fresh, bold ideas that connect with readers from all walks of life,” he said.

Fazreen said that while The Vocket continues to grow under REV Media Group, he plans to take a step back to focus on personal growth and sporting interests.

REV Media Group said the integration of The Vocket into its ecosystem will create new opportunities for advertisers through cross-platform campaigns, improved audience targeting and fresh monetisation models.

The company added that the move will also allow advertisers to reach audiences more effectively, while offering readers more creative, localised and relatable content across REV’s platforms.
