KUALA LUMPUR:
vivo Malaysia held its latest BlueTalk technical session here on Nov 6, giving the media a closer look at the technology behind its upcoming flagship, the vivo X300 Series, and the all-new OriginOS 6 operating system.

The session explored vivo’s continued pursuit of seamless integration between imaging hardware, software and AI-driven performance, aimed at redefining everyday smartphone interactions.

“True imaging innovation is about the experience,” said Keshav Chugh, senior product manager of Image Effects at vivo Global. “Users need comprehensive imaging strength that captures concerts, travel moments, and portraits in detail.”

At the core of the vivo X300 Series is the Zeiss 200-megapixel APO Telephoto Camera, co-developed with Zeiss. This advanced optical setup employs a floating periscope design and fluorite-grade glass elements to minimise chromatic aberration, ensuring remarkable clarity even at extreme zoom levels.

Powering the system is the Blueprint Samsung HPB sensor, enabling true 4x lossless optical zoom without digital degradation. Complemented by vivo’s proprietary NICE 3.0 and MAGIC 2.0 algorithms, the camera delivers up to 30% higher detail accuracy and realism than its predecessor.

According to Keshav, the technology represents more than a decade of vivo’s research and collaboration in professional imaging.

“This year marks vivo’s 30th anniversary and 12 years of dedicated innovation in mobile imaging,” he said. “Our philosophy has always been about letting technology serve human creativity.”

The imaging upgrades extend beyond optics and resolution. A gimbal-inspired stabilisation system delivers professional-grade CIPA 5.5-level performance, reducing shake even during handheld telephoto shots.

The new Extreme Tracking Engine, co-developed with MediaTek, enhances motion-tracking stability by 200% while cutting power consumption by 40%, keeping fast-moving subjects sharp and steady.

For content creators, the Stage Mode offers sharp, low-latency concert photography with 4K60fps Vision Recording, enabling simultaneous capture of photos and videos. Videographers also gain 4K 120 fps Dolby Vision Video and hybrid HDR with up to 100dB dynamic range.

“Our collaboration with Zeiss delivers an imaging system that makes professional-grade photography accessible to everyone,” Keshav added. “It’s about empowering users to create beautifully, whether they’re capturing everyday moments or cinematic scenes.”

OriginOS 6: designed for intelligence and fluidity

Complementing the hardware advancements is OriginOS 6, vivo’s latest operating system built on three core principles of smoothness, design, and artificial intelligence.

According to Yvonne Yao, OS product manager at vivo, the goal was to create an experience that feels “alive, fluid, and deeply human”. Central to this is the Origin Smooth Engine, which optimises performance across computing, storage, and display layers for seamless interaction.

“Albums with 5,000 photos now load 106% faster than before,” she noted.

Animations in OriginOS 6 have also been redesigned to mimic real-world physics, making simple actions, from unlocking to scrolling, feel more natural and tactile. Inspired by the way the human eye perceives light, subtle blur and morphing effects lend every motion a lifelike, immersive quality.

To ensure long-term reliability, OriginOS 6 has received SGS’s Five-Year Sustained Smoothness Certification. “Even after years of use, your phone will still feel as smooth as when the phone was new,” she added.

Beyond performance and design, vivo’s latest OS introduces intelligent features that anticipate user needs. One standout feature is Origin Island, a personal hub that consolidates live system information such as timers, device connections and recordings into a single, accessible space.

“Think of it as your private assistant. If you’re editing a photo, just drag it into Origin Island, and there’s no need to switch apps. The system will suggest your next step, whether that’s sharing, making further edits or opening another application.”

The new OriginOS 6 also extends vivo’s focus on cross-platform productivity. With tools like vivo Office Kit, users can transfer files and mirror screens seamlessly between Android, iOS, Windows and macOS.

Features such as AI Call Translation and Doc Master further enhance its professional appeal, enabling real-time call translations and the management of over 40 document formats directly on the device.

The One-Tap Transfer simplifies sharing by allowing users to instantly send photos and files between devices simply by tapping two phones together, whether between vivo devices or even with iPhones.

Visually, OriginOS 6 adopts a nature-inspired design philosophy that blends layered translucence, soft lighting and fluid motion. Yao describes it as “a world where the digital feels as layered and alive as the physical one”.

According to her, the vivo X300 Series and OriginOS 6 mark the brand’s next step in unifying hardware and software built on creativity, reliability, and lasting performance.

“It’s about sophisticated technology that enhances, not complicates, everyday life,” she concluded.
