Doctors from Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) had informed the 75-year-old that he requires the insertion of two stents to relieve blockages in his arteries. The procedure is expected to cost approximately RM15,000.
As his only income is derived from busking once a week and without a Socso pension, Ho turned to the public for help.
Within hours of the article being published, and with the accompanying video amassing over 80,000 views on FMT’s social media platforms, Malaysians began to channel funds to help Ho.
By 5pm yesterday, the amount raised had already surpassed RM20,000.
“The response is overwhelming. I couldn’t believe it. That is a lot of money for me,” Ho told FMT Lifestyle over the phone yesterday evening.
“One particular person gave me RM3,000. Many of them didn’t even include their names,” he said, adding that he is deeply moved by the generosity of Malaysians.
“As most of the well-wishers have remained anonymous, I want to convey my sincere thanks to all these kind-hearted people. I would be glad to give them some of my CD albums in appreciation for their generosity.”
Ho revealed he has also received a call from the secretary of Seputeh MP Teresa Kok, who expressed interest in meeting him to deliver a cheque.

“Most of all, I want to thank FMT for highlighting my plight. I cannot find the words to thank you all. Due to your kind efforts, something so unexpected has happened to me,” Ho added.
“I expected I would receive some funds, but I never thought I would surpass RM15,000, and so quickly. I believe many donated not only for my heart procedure but also because they would like to see me lead a good life.”
Adding to the good news, medical company Emedhealth has offered to donate two heart stents for his procedure, subject to approval from the doctors in charge.
As such, the procedure, originally scheduled for Sept 23 at UMMC, will be postponed possibly to next month, pending discussions and further medical evaluation.
In the meantime, Ho said the additional funds will go towards his medication and supporting his recovery process.
Several social media users have also enquired about how to purchase his CD albums. Those who are interested are invited to contact 012-346 1232 for further information.
