KUALA LUMPUR:
A seemingly ordinary evening in Bukit Bintang turned vibrant on Wednesday as the crowd was first surprised, then stirred, into grooving and singing along to a flash mob performance with special guest artistes.

It began with what appeared to be a normal scene with local band Genji Buskers, who sang several catchy classics near the bustling intersection of Jalan Bukit Bintang and Jalan Sultan Ismail.

But when local rapper Aman RA was spotted among the crowd, lead singer and guitarist Genji asked him to join the performance, much to the delight of onlookers.

As they performed and reached the chorus of a song titled “Bangun! Kita Bagi Jadi!”, members of the Malaysian Philharmonic Youth Orchestra brass section suddenly emerged from the crowd, blending harmoniously with the performance.

The atmosphere changed from ordinary to extraordinary as shoppers, commuters, tourists and other passersby sang along to the campaign song, while surrounding screens showcased snippets of the “Bangun! Kita Bagi Jadi!” music video.

Breakdancers and silat performers then emerged from the crowd and started to bust some moves while Aman RA and Genji hyped up the audience, causing them to roar with excitement.

At the end, Aman RA thanked the spectators and shook hands with all the performers.

As it turns out, the event was a key part of CIMB Bank’s “Kita Bagi Jadi” campaign, designed to inspire positive change and the spirit of resilience while celebrating local talent through a singalong with the local community.

“It was really energetic,” said Henry, a bystander who stopped to witness the occasion, saying he had not anticipated Aman RA’s appearance at all.

Mohd Shafiq Kamal, a commuter who watched the performance with his wife, agreed, saying it was very “lively and fun”.

“I did not expect there to be a collaboration between CIMB and the local busking community, but it really does bring everyone together,” he said, adding that his favourite part was when the silat performers and breakdancers took the floor.

Aman RA, too, expressed his excitement for the initiative, saying: “The ‘Kita Bagi Jadi’ campaign is a movement of hope. I hope it inspires people to do more and follow through on their dreams.”

Thanking CIMB for this partnership, he said he hoped the bank would continue to support local arts and culture, so that other creatives may enjoy a similar experience as he did.

Indeed, this campaign underscores CIMB’s commitment to supporting the arts while fostering community spirit.

As National Day approaches, this unique activation serves as a novel and creative way of sparking unity and integration, while the theme song “Bangun! Kita Bagi Jadi!” delivers a message that inspires one and all to be confident and live their dreams.
