Developed by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the global trade association representing over 300 airlines, the certification is widely recognised as the industry’s most rigorous safety evaluation framework.
It sets global benchmarks for aviation safety and operational efficiency by assessing an airline’s systems and procedures against a comprehensive set of standards and recommended practices.
The renewed certification, valid until June 3, 2027, was awarded following a comprehensive audit conducted under IATA’s enhanced risk-based audit framework. This methodology considers each airline’s unique operational profile and historical safety performance, allowing for a more targeted and effective assessment.
The audit is carried out by independent, IATA-accredited professionals and must be renewed biennially. It covers eight critical operational areas, namely:
- organisation and management systems;
- flight operations;
- operational control and despatch;
- aircraft engineering and maintenance;
- cabin operations;
- ground handling;
- cargo operations; and
- aviation security.
“At Batik Air, safety isn’t just a standard … it is the foundation of our operations and the core of our identity,” said chief executive officer Chandran Rama Muthy.
“For our passengers, this certification offers not only assurance but peace of mind. Whether flying domestically or across borders, they can trust that every flight is supported by robust safety protocols, seamless coordination, and operational precision.”
