PARIS:
Since its release on Netflix in March 2025, the miniseries “Adolescence” has proved a phenomenal success and made a lasting impression.

So much so that the four-episode drama has landed a place in the list of all-time most popular shows on the streaming platform, amassing over 96 million views.

Competition is fierce on Netflix. Faced with already well-established shows like “Stranger Things” and “Bridgerton,” the British miniseries has achieved quite a feat by taking ninth place in the ranking of the most-watched English-language shows of all time on the streaming platform.

The American giant shared the updated ranking on its TUDUM website.

With “Adolescence,” Netflix has scored yet another global hit – so much so that the drama starring young actor Owen Cooper has managed to overtake viewership of the third season of “Stranger Things.”

And that’s not the show’s only victory. By reaching ninth place in the streaming site’s Top 10 most popular English-language shows, “Adolescence” has ousted the second season of “Bridgerton,” previously 10th in the ranking.

The performance of the “Adolescence” miniseries is all the more impressive given that it took the program just 17 days to enter the ranking.

This is more than a promising start, given that Netflix calculates the audience ratings of new shows over their first 91 days of release. The miniseries therefore has a good chance of climbing even higher in the ranking.

“Adolescence” tells the story of Jamie Miller, a 13-year-old accused of murdering his classmate, Katie.

This British miniseries – which counts Brad Pitt as an executive producer, and is directed by Jack Thorne and Stephen Graham – explores the themes of violence, misogynistic and sexist discourse, incel culture, social networks, online bullying, and the complex social dynamics that shape modern adolescence.

“Adolescence” stands out for its technical production, with each episode filmed in a single take, offering an intense and immersive experience for the viewer.

The miniseries comprises four episodes of around 50 minutes, and is available via the Netflix streaming platform.
